Community Service and BOTC Sponsored Events:
BOTC offers two AKC licensed Rally and Obedience trials each year. Our upcoming Spring Trial will be May 3 & 4, 2008 and our fall trial will be November 1 & 2, 2008.
In addition to our dedication to advancing the sports of AKC Obedience and Rally, BOTC equally welcomes mixed breed dogs to our classes, and encourages dogs inelligible for AKC competition both to earn the Canine Good Citizen® certificate and to pursue competition open to mixed breeds (USDAA, NAFA, etc.).
BOTC supports several dog related charities. Following Hurricane Katrina, BOTC donated over $1,000 for dog related relief efforts. Members also collected supplies and equipment for donation to the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, which was inundated by animal evacuees from Hurricane Katrina.
BOTC has provided Basic obedience classes free of charge to handlers of Service Dog candidates.
Several BOTC instructors and members have trained and handled Delta Society certified therapy dogs. Many of these dogs actively participate in pet therapy programs in the Greater Birmingham Metropolitan area.
